Day of Fast for America/Dec 6th

DAY OF FASTING AND PRAYER FOR AMERICA

We, my wife and I, are firmly convinced that our elected politicians are incapable of representing the will of the American people – and incapable of adhering to the Constitution of the United States of America which they took a solemn oath to uphold and defend.

We are among the millions of U.S. Citizens who are at our wits end sending e-mails, faxes, telephoning, meeting with elected officials, demonstrating, rallying – and hoping – that those representatives will do the will of the people. They have failed. Have we, as well?

The United States of America is a choice land, a nation that was founded by our forefathers who were divinely inspired by God the Father Almighty. This choice nation has been the defender of freedom throughout its relatively short history. We have led in the fight for freedom against many tyrants and dictators who have plundered and pillared their citizens and have subjected them to great sufferings through blood and horror. The people of those nations who suffered these great injustices knew that they could always depend upon the goodness, power and righteousness of the United States of America to extract them from their plights. And it was done – many times over. It was not done without expense – the expense of the blood and sacrifice of the members of our armed forces – and the suffering of their families.

As the year 2009 soon comes to a close, we the citizens of the United States of America finds ourselves facing many of the challenges – which those nations suffered at the hands of their political leaders. We are being attacked from within! Who do we turn to? Which great nation can we turn to help us to keep and maintain our freedom? We do not have the same hope of those nations to whom we were benefactors.

We MUST turn to our Savior. If we are a righteous people, we will be deserving of, and receive of His blessings as He has promised. He suffered and died for us – He atoned for our sins; each one of us - individually. We know that - as a nation – we can once again be the choicest of lands. However, we cannot achieve that blessing without our willingness to please our Lord and Savior.

We are asking that all who read this message that have faith in Christ designate Sunday December 6, 2009 as a day of fasting and prayer for America .

You do not have to march on the nation’s Capitol nor go to a tea bag rally. From the comfort of your home, you can get on bended knee and with a broken heart and contrite spirit, petition the Lord to bless this nation generously according to His will. Then, keep the fast for that day. Make that Christ-like commitment to our Heavenly Father. He will listen, He will answer. That has been promised.

“And whatsoever he shall ask the father in my name, which is right, believing that ye shall receive, behold it shall be given unto you.” (3 Nephi 18-20) “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” (Matthew 21:22)

Tyranny

When the people fear
their government, there
is tyranny; when the
government fears the
people, there is liberty.

                -Thomas Jefferson

Tom woke me up at 3:30 am this morning, to tell me that the House passed the Health Care bill.  We talked for a long time, then prayed.  We thanked our Heavenly Father for this great country, asked forgivness for not having done more sooner, prayed for our country, our Constitution, "the people", for peace inspite of turmoil, for faith not fear, for guidance and direction, to be instruments in the Lords hands, for safety and protection from harm and danger and the evils around us, for the fortification of this family, strength courage and much more. The time for being idle is past.  Do you realize in the past year and a half our government has taken over the main industries in housing, auto, insurance, banking, and working on taking over health care?

Do you ever wonder if this is just an extension of the war in heaven, here on earth? And if our action here will impact our eternities?  I do.

Tea Party

We went to the "Tea Party" this week.  It was great to be among others who feel so strongly about the freedoms we enjoy, that are being taken from us daily.  They asked us to all call our Congressmen/women and tell them to vote NO to the Health Care bill this Friday.  Earlier in the week, I e-mailed and called my representatives, then started calling other states representatives.

Freedom for Granted

I feel compelled to do more.  I cannot sit idle while the country that I love is being destroyed.  I need to be doing more hands on, to preserve our freedom.  I have a responsibility, even a stewardship to stand for freedom at all cost.   I know someday I will stand before the Savior and be asked what I did to stand for truth and righteousness.  I hope to answer that I did all I could do.  I cannot say that right now.  I was moved yesterday by a video (link below)I watch of Lord Monckton not of the United States.  He said, "It is a privilege merely to stand on this soil of freedom while it is still free."  What a slap in the face to me who takes for granted the freedoms that I do enjoy.

Miracles

There has been a prominent thought in my heart since reading "The Real George Washington," and it is this; miracle after miracle occured at the birth of our great nation and Constitution, likely we will see miracle upon miracle to help save it, as there are virtuous people.

Let us not lose faith in God's ability to deal with tryants today
as He has in the past. As long as there is remnant of people  in
society who are capable of being intruments in the hands of God,
who know how to intercede with God in prayer, mighty changes in
the course of events can and will happen swiftly.
-Gwynne W. Davidson (The Red Carpet 289)

"The honor and safety of our bledding country, and
every other motive that can influence the brave and heroic
patriot, call loudly upon us, to acquit ourselves with spirit.
In short, me must now determine to be enslaved or free.
If we make freedom our choice, we must obtain it by the
blessing of Heaven, on our united and vigorous efforts."
-George Washington (August 8, 1776)

I am really excited.  About 15 to 20 organizations in this area, who are working to promote freedom have recently had a meeting of their leadership.  These groups will be working together, and focusing on their strengths.  Being united in vigorous efforts.

Knowledge is Power

Most of us are familiar with the maxim "Knowledge is power".  But the converse of that statement is just as valid, ignorance is weakness.  This principle is aptly expressed in the scrptures.  "Therefore, my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge, and thier honorable men are famished, and thier multitudes dried up with thirst ".  (Isa. 5:13, 2Nephi 15:13) So what knowledge do we need to possess to avoid captivity?  Start with the role agency plays in mortality.  Next become familiar with sovereignty, the agency of individual nations and the difference between a republic and a democracy.  Read the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.  Failing to understand these principles will make you among the famished.
